Amazing 1967 Pentagon arrest footage found
On Oct 21, 1967 the largest anti war demonstration to date occurred as over 700 were arrested during an assault on the pentagon. Danny Lyon and Mark di Suvero arrived at the momument just prior to the 100,000 marchers and were quickly in combat with club swinging US Marshalls and MPs. Lyon was #4 arrested that morning, di Suvero was assaulted by US Marshalls, his handmade B&W US flag removed, and after escaping was arrested again later that morning. The anti-war photographer Leif Skoogfors made photographs of both men, including di Suvero under arrest. Incredibly footage of both arrests has now surfaced on Youtube.
At 0:42 through 0:50, you can clearly see an unconscious Danny Lyon being dragged across the plaza by two helmeted US Marshalls. He had just been clubbed unconscious. And di Suvero, buried in another group of Marshalls as they remove his home made flag. Nothing like a piece of film to bring us a voice from the grave.
